1. Edible paste or gel colors
A product that is the most popular and has gained great popularity is edible paste or gel colors. Their texture is very concentrated, allowing easy coloring with just a few drops. This category is mainly intended for coloring fondant, icing, and buttercream. Additionally, edible paste or gel colors are suitable for use in preparations such as red velvet, cakes, and cupcakes. You can find them in two forms: either in tubes or bottles, and there is a vast color palette available.
2. Edible powder colors
Edible powder colors come in three types: plain, pearlescent, and metallic. They are mainly used for shading cookies, figures, or fondant flowers, or for covering an entire cake surface. One way to use them is by applying them with a soft brush, while another method involves dissolving them in alcohol-based solvent. When using dissolved color, you can easily paint on surfaces like cookies, fondant, or icing. The alcohol evaporates after painting.
